Just so I don't forget

The latest funny sayings of Cuatro:

--"Oh, Katie, your shirt is so beautiful!!"

--When he and his daddy were at the ranch a few weeks ago, they discovered the hunting jeep has been stolen so Joe called the sheriff and told Cuatro that the police were coming. Cuatro started crying and said he didn't want to go to jail. Joe told him that the police were heroes and were coming to help. Joe turned back around to drive and heard a little voice behind him say very quietly, "Daddies can be heroes too."

--While waiting for the police to come, Joe heard something in one of the hunting trailers and thought someone was in their illegally. He went into Marine Corps mode and admitted that he forgot Cuatro was there. So he grabbed his gun and got in his "clearing mode" and right before he was about to barge into the front door, he heard the familiar little voice whisper loudly, "Daddy, you gonna shoot somebody?"
(I was not happy about this story at first and Joe has promised to wait for the police the next time he decides to "clear" a building with one of our children present)

--This might be too much for some people but I want to remember what he says: He asked if it hurt to have a baby come out and I said yes. He thought about this for a little bit and then asked, "Does it hurt for the baby to go in?" (Joe and I both had a hard time stifling that laugh)

--When we asked what he did in preschool yesterday, he said, "Well, I did some time-out.....

And that is why you should always listen to your mother....

So the other day I saw a cute centerpiece for fall and attempted to re-create it on my kitchen table. I took a huge hurricane vase and then put a small cylinder vase in the middle and then poured some carmel candy corns around the bottom and then put a candle in the cylinder vase. Voila, a really cute and easy centerpiece. What I failed to think through is that there is a huge container of candy corns on my kitchen table for all the kids to see!! The girls noticed before Cuatro and before they could get their hand in the container I made a rule that NO ONE was to eat the candy. I went back to tend to Audrey while the girls sat at the table doing their homework and Cuatro climbed the window. I finally made it back to the table to help the girls and by then Cuatro had discovered the wonderful candy corns. As he was putting his hands in I told him the candy was fake and poisonous so he better not touch it (Before you judge me, please know that the poison card always works with Cuatro and I did not want to be fighting with him over my pretty handiwork!). Well all of a sudden Laura starts to cry uncontrollably. I asked her what was wrong and she said through her tears, "I ate the candy corns and now I am going to die because they are poisonous!!!" After I whispered to her the truth she was fine but she is still wary of the candy on the table:) She should have listened to her mother.....

Funny sayings to remember and things I never thought I would be saying ten years ago....

So I thought I would keep a running post on the funny things the kids say and the things I never thought my mouth would utter. So here is Post #1 of all the funny things I say and hear throughout any given day in this season of my life.

Funny Sayings to Remember:

"Mom, are you gonna take her a bath?"---Laura (Age 5) asking about Audrey

When told that she would not get a slice of cake that evening because she had disobeyed, I overheard the following from her room through sobs, "no one understands me"---Grace (Age 5)
P.S. Laura and I had to go into her room and give her a hug and laugh with her about this one

In response to me telling him that he is crazy and will hurt himself if he continues to eat things he is not supposed to: "And I will get jailed, and I will cry because that is where the bad guys are."---Cuatro (Age 2)

In response to telling him that he is not the Mom (which means he can't tell the girls what to do): "No, I'm the dad"!!! ----Cuatro (Age 2)

"Mom, remember when we went to the muquarium? in Houston?"---Grace (Age 5) I guess this is the museum and aquarium in one word??

Grace (Age 5) asked if Tinkerbell was real and then took it farther and asked if the characters at Disney World were real. While I panicked and thought about how to reply, she made up her mind and said this, "Okay, everything is real".

Things I never thought I would say:

"Girls, how much modeling clay did your brother eat?"

"Cuatro, please do not drink out of the toilet."

"Cuatro, please do not sit on her head."

"It is not okay to take your poopy diaper off in the backyard."
